1. Rear seat belts.
2. Rear center seat belt.
3. Adjustable anchor.
4. Front seat belt.
5. Bracket front seat belt.
6. Brackets of back seat belts.
Seat belts are used to secure the driver and passengers in their seats in the event of emergency braking or a vehicle collision with an obstacle, thus preventing injury.
The vehicle uses three-point front seat belts with load limiters, pretensioners and ELR mechanism (Emergency Locking Retractor - emergency locking mechanism).
The rear seat belts are also three-point, but equipped only with the ELR mechanism.
Seat Belt Maintenance Precautions
Attention.
- Before removing the front seat belt pretensioner, turn off the ignition, disconnect both wires from the battery, and wait at least one minute.
- Do not use electrical diagnostic equipment to test the front pretensioner connector.
- After completing the installation of a new or old front seat belt pretensioner or disconnecting its connectors, it is necessary to check the functioning of the system.
- Do not disassemble the buckle or any part of the seat belt.
- Replace anchor bolts if they are worn or deformed.
- Do not allow oil to get into the buckle or seat belt buckle.
- If you are in doubt about the condition of any part of the seat belt, do not repair it. It must be replaced along with the belt.
- If the seat belt webbing is cut, frayed, or damaged, replace it as an assembly with the rest of the seat belt.
- When replacing, use only genuine Mazda parts.
- Disposal, recycling and transportation of airbag modules and seat belt pretensioners must be carried out in accordance with federal and local laws.
After a traffic accident
Attention.
- After any traffic accident, it is necessary to check the seat belts, as well as inertia reels and other devices related to them.
- Mazda recommends that all seat belts that have been deployed in an accident be replaced. This can be omitted if the incident was minor and the belts have no visible damage and are functioning normally. Otherwise, the risk of injury in an accident increases. Those seat belts that did not work in an accident should also be replaced if they are visibly damaged or not functioning properly.
The seat belt pretensioners must be replaced if a frontal collision has occurred and the airbags have deployed.
Replace seat belts (including anchor bolts) in the following cases:
- The seat belt was in use at the time of the accident (except for minor incidents in which the belt, lock and inertial coil were not damaged and remained operational).
- The seat belt was damaged in a traffic accident. (The belt tape is torn, the inertial coil or guide is deformed).
- The seat belt anchorage was damaged in a traffic accident. Before installing a new seat belt, check the seat belt anchorage for deformation or damage and make any necessary repairs.
- Anchor bolts are deformed or worn.
- The front seat belt pretensioner must be replaced if a frontal collision occurs and the airbags deploy.
