Preheating system (diesel engines)

The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel engine has a relatively low compression temperature due to low compression. The pre-heating system raises the compression temperature by heating the intake air into the cylinders with glow plugs, which improves engine starting at low ambient temperatures.

Ceramic glow plugs are characterized by a high heating rate, which quickly raises the temperature of the intake air.



The glow plugs are controlled by a preheating control unit located in the engine compartment.
