Mechanical check

1. Apply the parking brake securely and chock the front and rear wheels.

2. Check engine coolant level.

3. Check engine oil level.

4. Check the automatic transmission fluid level (see related section below).

5. Petrol engines: Check ignition timing and idle speed.

6. Make sure there are no trouble codes in the car's memory.
