Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and remove the air filter assembly.
2. Drain coolant. liquid (Section 1).
3. Remove the air filter assembly.
4. Disconnect the throttle and (if equipped) downshift damper and speed control cables and a vacuum hose from the carburetor.
5. Disconnect the heater hose at the heat shield and vacuum brake hose from the installation on the vacuum reservoir.
6. Separate and plug the fuel line at the fuel pump.
7. Disconnect the carbon filter hose from the carburetor and cleaning hoses (if equipped).
8. Disconnect the four electrical connectors adjacent to the carburetor.
9. Locate remaining hoses and connections that prevent manifold removal and disconnect.
10. Remove the manifold lock nuts and bolts, pull the intake manifold off the struts and separate from the cylinder head.
11. Remove the gasket.
12. Clean all traces of gasket and other foreign matter from the manifold and cylinder head contact surfaces, being careful not to damage the soft aluminum surface.
13. Install a new gasket, align the manifold and install the lock nuts and bolts. Tighten the nuts and bolts with the tightening force specified in the Specifications. Tighten from the center of the manifold in a diagonal pattern.
14. Install the components that were removed to gain access to the intake manifold.
