1. Regardless of whether the block head has been repaired or not, thoroughly clean it before installation.
2. If the head was removed to repair valves and related components, start the overhaul procedure from step 6.
3. Install new seals on each of the valve guides. Using a hammer and tube, carefully tap each seal onto the guide.
4. Install the valves, being careful not to damage the new valve stem seals, install the valve spring seat on the bulge of the valve guide, and reinstall the valve springs, bonnet, and valve cotter.
5. Compress the springs with the valve compressor and install the holders. Release the compressor and check that the retainers are properly seated in the top groove of the valve stem.
6. Install the camshaft (Section 2 Part A).
7. Lubricate the rocker arm and shaft assembly with clean engine oil. Install the assembly and tighten the bolts in the correct sequence with the tightening torque specified specifications (Section 2, Part A, Chapter 11).
