2. Install the output shaft bearing outer race with its gasket using a punch and hammer.
3. Install differential bearing race and spacers.
4. Install the input shaft spring washer (convex side up), then install the spring.
5. Install the reverse lever shaft and spring.
6. Install the oil deflector.
7. Install the driver roller seal.
8. Insert the driver roller and install the roller lever, making sure the spring pin is in the proper position.
9. Insert the tip of the shift fork rod into the corresponding hole in the reverse gear and install the assembly in place so that the driver roller can be inserted.
10. Place the reverse engagement rocker spring in place and insert the reverse engagement rod through the spring at the end of the rocker.
11. Place the bias lever on the pins of the driver roller.
12. Attach the lever to the leader shaft with a spring pin.
13. Attach the driver roller lever guide plate with three bolts. The bolts are different and the one without the washer should be installed in the upper right corner. The reverse rocker spring must be installed around the rear bolt spacer.
14. Install the stop bolt and washer on the shift lever.
15. Install the bearing pedestal and output shaft bearing race.
16. Install the input shaft seal with the open end up.
17. Install the input shaft bearing into the crankcase.
18. Place the magnet in the groove of the transmission housing.
19. Install differential.
20. Lubricate the sealing lip of the differential oil seal with clean gear oil and install it in the crankcase.
21. Install the spring in the axis of the reverse gear lever.
22. Place the shift fork assembly on the output shaft assembly. Insert the shift fork assembly into the transmission case.
23. Gently slide the shift fork assembly slightly up and out of the locating lug by tilting the output shaft assembly. Pull the stem out as far as possible and rotate it 90°from the neutral position. Place the ball on the end of the reverse gear lever shaft and rotate the stem to the neutral position. Carefully insert the stem into the corresponding projection on the transmission case.
24. Insert the spring pin into the tip of the shift fork rod and install it in place.
25. Install the double arm assembly that connects the bias lever to the shift fork stem end.
26. Install a new O-ring on the double arm shaft. Lubricate the two-arm lever with clean gear oil and install it. Attach the lever with a spring pin.
27. Install the reverse gear, and push the 5th and reverse shift rod into place with the notch on the rod facing out. The hole in the leash roller should be aligned with the reverse gear.
28. Install the idler gear and reverse shaft.
29. On 5-speed transmission models, use RTV sealant to install the oil passage to the transmission case.
30. Connect the parts of the transmission housing so that the differential is at the bottom. You may need to align the magnet with the groove in the top half of the crankcase.
31. Install the bolts securing the transmission housing and tighten them with the tightening force specified in the Specifications in a diagonal sequence.
32. Install the driver roller retaining bolt along with its sealing washer. Tighten the bolt securely (5 speed gearbox).
33. Install the reverse gear shaft retaining bolt (5 speed gearbox).
34. Install the input gear and tighten its locknut by hand (5 speed gearbox).
35. Lubricate the input shaft gear bushing with clean transmission fluid and install it in place (5 speed gearbox).
36. Lubricate and install the 5th gear.
37. Install the 5th gear synchronizer blocking ring.
38. Install the synchronizer and shift fork by aligning the crackers with the grooves in the synchronizer blocking ring and attaching the fork with a cylindrical pin (5 speed gearbox).
39. Set the synchronizer limiter (5 speed gearbox).
40. Install the output shaft locknut and hand tighten (5 speed gearbox).
41. Tighten both locknuts and drive their locking rims into the shaft grooves using a punch and hammer (5 speed gearbox).
42. Apply sealant to the rear cover of the transmission, install the cover and tighten the bolts with the tightening torque regulated by the Specifications.
43. Install the drive shaft seals.
44. Install the reversing light switch.
45. Lightly lubricate the O-ring with clean gear oil and install it on the speedometer drive assembly. Install the speedometer drive assembly.
46. Install the transmission (Chapter 4).
