Replacement of brake pads
Raise the car, secure it on stands and remove the rear wheel. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the bracket and caliper arm.

On 1987 vehicles, unscrew the guide pins and remove the brake cylinder (pic. 15.73). Remove the brake pads by prying them out with a screwdriver.

On cars since 1988, unscrew the upper mounting bolt and rotate the caliper on the axle, tilting it down to provide access to the pads (pic. 15.71). Remove the V-spring, pads, soundproofing pads and guide brackets.
The further replacement procedure corresponds to that given in Sec. 10 «Brake system».
Inspect the brake disc and replace if severely damaged. On vehicles with ABS, replace the wheel speed sensor located on the disc.
For all models, use round nose pliers to turn the pistons clockwise and press them into the cylinder. This is necessary to install new brake pads that are thicker than worn pads.
On 1987 vehicles, install new pads in the caliper. Establish a support and tighten directing fingers the demanded moment.
In vehicles since 1988, install gaskets, pads and clamps, rotate the caliper into place, and tighten the mounting bolt to the required torque.
Repeat all operations for the other rear brake.
Attention! Before driving, depress the brake pedal several times to press the pads against the brake disc. Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary. Make sure that the brakes are working properly, before entering the roadway, perform several control braking while driving at low speed.
