Removing
Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery, remove the air filter and air supply pipes.
Drain the coolant and disconnect the upper hose from the radiator.
Remove the ignition distributor.
Remove the camshaft timing belt cover and toothed belt.
Remove the fuel pump.
Remove the intake manifold.
Remove the generator. On models with air conditioning, unscrew the air conditioning compressor clamping bolt and carefully remove the compressor, taking care not to damage the line (in which high pressure is maintained) or radiator. Turn away bolts of fastening of an arm of the generator and the conditioner to a head of the block of cylinders and weaken an inhaling of an inhaling of other bolts of an arm.
Remove the cylinder head cover.
Remove the three bolts securing the exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter or exhaust pipe and remove the catalytic converter (or downpipe) from the exhaust manifold.
Pic. 3.13. Attenuation sequence (A) and puffs (IN) cylinder head bolts
Loosen the cylinder head bolts by loosening each bolt a few turns at a time. Turn away bolts in the sequence shown in fig. 3.13.
After loosening the cylinder head bolts, unscrew them and place them in a box with numbered cells in order to subsequently install the bolts in their original places.
If removal of the cylinder head is difficult, separate it by inserting a spudger blade between the alternator/A/C compressor bracket and the cylinder head.
Remove the cylinder head and head gasket.
Installation
Clear the block of cylinders and a head of the block of cylinders of the lining remains. Make sure that the threads of the head bolts and cylinder block bores are clean, as contamination may interfere with the torque reading when installing the head.
Install the gasket, cylinder head, camshaft and valve train assembly with shafts and rocker arms (if it was taken). Make sure the gasket is in the correct position.
Screw in bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders and tighten them the required moments in the sequence shown in fig. 3.13.
Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
After warming up the engine, check the clearances between the valves and rocker arms and tighten the cylinder head bolts.
