Pic. 14.30. RVT system air injection system: 1 - air nozzles; 2 - air supply valves; 3 - three-way solenoid valve; 4 - control unit of the RVT system
The air injection system installed on engines with the PBT system includes two vacuum air control valves, a solenoid valve controlled by the PBT system control unit, and air nozzles on the exhaust manifold (pic. 14.30). The system uses the exhaust gas flow to draw air from the air filter into the exhaust manifold to assist in the afterburning of unburned or partially burned fuel.
The air injection system consists of two subsystems - one for cylinders 1 and 4, the second for cylinders 2 and 3, since the pressure pulsation between these cylinders is synchronized.
In the event of an engine overload, the system is closed by a solenoid valve that opens the air valves and releases air to the atmosphere.
