Air-fuel mixture lean system when the vehicle is in neutral gear

The idle air-fuel mixture lean valve is equipped on vehicles with a manual transmission. The valve is designed for additional air supply to the inlet pipe when the accelerator pedal is released and the vehicle is coasting, as a result of which the content of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in the exhaust gases decreases.

Malfunction of the lean mixture system can cause unstable operation and an increase in the engine speed at idle, as well as continued operation of the engine after the ignition is turned off.

Replacing elements

Leaner valve

Remove the air filter and disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.

Loosen the screws holding the leaner valve to the carburetor. Disconnect the connector from the valve and take it to the side. Reinstall the O-ring.

Install the new valve in the reverse order of removal.

The switch of the economizer of the forced idling system

Remove the air filter and disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.

Loosen the screws holding the switch to the carburetor. Disconnect the connector from the switch and take it aside.

Install the new switch in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the air filter, check the switch setting as described in sec. 2.
