Examination
1. Lower the door glass and try to adjust the position of the rear view mirror glass. You should be able to hear the sound of running engines.
2. If a noise is heard but the glass does not move, the linkage mechanism is probably defective. Remove and disassemble the rear view mirror.
3. If no engine noise is heard, check the radio fuse.
4. If the fuse is OK, remove the motor drive switch (indicated by an arrow) and check for power.
5. Check the operation of the switch using an ohmmeter and Mirror Adjuster Conductance Chart - Ford Probe Models, Mirror Adjuster Conductivity Chart - Pre 1997 Mazda 626 Models, Rear View Mirror Adjuster Conductivity Chart - Mazda MX-6 Models. Replace switch if necessary.
6. Check the connecting wires between the switch and the rearview mirror.
7. Replace the mirror motor if it is defective.
