2. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands.
3. Place a pan under the gearbox and unscrew the drain plug. When the liquid drains, wipe off the plug and replace it.
Ford models with CD4E transmission and Mazda with LA4-EL transmission
4. Lower the car to the ground. Further see point 11.
Ford models with 4EAT transmission and Mazda with GF4A-EL transmission
5. Unscrew the fixing bolts of the transmission pan and remove the pan. Remove the old gasket.
6. Empty the old fluid from the sump, wash the sump with solvent and dry it. Don't forget to put the magnets back in place.
7. Loosen the fixing screws (indicated by arrows) and remove the old filter.
8. Install the sealing ring on the new filter, install the filter in place and tighten the mounting bolts.
9. Install a new sump gasket and install the sump onto the transmission. Tighten the fixing bolts to the required tightening torque.
10. Lower the car to the ground.
All models
11. Remove the dipstick to check the oil level and pour new oil into the gearbox through the dipstick tube.
12. Start the engine and move the shift lever through all positions in turn. Engage park gear again and check the fluid level. Add fluid if necessary.
