Engine Fan Relay Location
On 1993 Probe models, fan relays (indicated by an arrow) located in front of the radiator. On 1994 and later Probes, the low speed relay is located in front of the radiator and the high speed relay is in the left rear corner of the engine compartment.
Location of the air conditioning fan relay
On Probe models, the A/C fan relays are located directly behind the fuse box.
If the cooling fan does not turn on when the engine warms up to operating temperature or when you turn on the air conditioner, check the fan fuse (40 A), located under the hood in the relay and fuse box and engine fuse (15 A), located on the outer fuse panel.
Examination
1. Disconnect the wire from the fan motor and connect the fan contacts with adapters to the battery terminals. Single speed fans have two pins, two speed fans have three pins. On a two speed fan, connect the black wire pin to ground and one of the other two pins to the battery terminal. The fan should run at low or high speed, if the fan does not work or only works at one speed, replace the fan motor.
2. If the fan works normally when connected directly, then the cause may be a faulty fuse, relay, temperature sensor, or broken wiring.
Replacement
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air intake pipe.
3. Disconnect the cooling fan wire (A) and unscrew the top left fan shroud bolt (IN). Disconnect the wires attached to the fan shroud.
4. Disconnect the air conditioning fan wire (A) and unscrew the top right fan shroud bolt (IN). Disconnect the wires attached to the fan shroud.
5. Unscrew the casing bolts (both fans are installed in one casing) and remove it from the engine compartment.
6. Unscrew the fan nut and remove the blades from the motor.
7. Remove the three bolts and remove the motor.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
