Examination
Ignition systems with ignition distributor
1. Check that the ignition is off.
2. Disconnect the ignition coil connector and check the resistance of the primary winding: on models of 1993 and 1994, check the resistance between terminals A and C; On 1995-1997 models, check the resistance between terminals A and B.
3. Check ignition coil secondary resistance: On 1993 and 1994 models, check resistance between terminal C and high voltage wire terminal; On 1995-1997 models, check the resistance between the A terminal and the high voltage wire terminal.
4. Replace the ignition coil if necessary.

5. Disconnect the connector for connecting the primary windings of the coil. Measure the resistance between the negative terminal and each of the positive terminals.
6. Label the high voltage wires and disconnect them from the coil. Check the resistance between pairs of terminals: on models with a 4-cylinder engine, check the resistance between the upper and lower pairs of terminals; on 6-cylinder models, check the continuity between the pairs of terminals A-B, C-D and E-F.
7. Replace coil if necessary.
Replacement
Ignition systems with ignition distributor
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. If the ignition coil is integrated into the ignition distributor, the distributor must be replaced.
3. To replace the external ignition coil, disconnect the connectors from the coil, unscrew the fixing nuts and remove the coil.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

5. Tag and disconnect high voltage wires.
6. Loosen the fixing screws (indicated by arrows) and remove the coil.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
