Nikki 30/34 carburetor and intake manifold heater
The choke control mechanism is heated by the engine coolant.
Design
The Aisan carburetor found on Mazda vehicles is a two-barrel vertical carburetor with sequential throttles. The throttle drive of the secondary chamber is vacuum. Auto choke adjustment (if installed) is carried out by an electrically heated bimetallic coil or a temperature wax capsule heated by the engine coolant.
The carburetor consists of three main components. This is the carburetor cover, carburetor body and throttle body (in which throttle valves are installed). An insulating block located between the carburetor body and throttle body serves to protect the carburetor body from excessive heat transfer.
Some Nikki carburetor models have an electric heater mounted on the intake manifold (see fig. Nikki 30/34 carburetor and intake manifold heater). The heater serves to prevent icing of the carburetor and to improve the atomization of the fuel mixture when the engine is warming up. The temperature switch is used to turn off the heater when the engine temperature reaches a certain level. The heater has a positive temperature coefficient of resistance - as the temperature rises, the resistance of the heater increases.
