Removing
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the engine undershield and drive belts.
3. Remove the generator. Remove the air conditioning compressor and move it to the side, do not disconnect the hoses from the compressor.
4. Remove the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket.
5. Remove the oil pan and, having unscrewed three clamps, remove the oil intake pipe.
6. Using the reverse sequence of tightening, remove the bolts of the reinforcing section of the engine.
7. Remove the oil pump bolts and nuts and remove the pump.
Examination
1. Note the depth of the seal. Remove the stuffing box from the pump housing.
2. Remove the screws and remove the oil pump cover.
3. Remove the pump relief valve. Remove the pump inner and outer gears. Wash all pump elements in solvent.
4. Install the gears in the pump housing and take the following measurements. Measure the clearance between driven gear and pump housing.
5. Measure the gap between the gear teeth.
6. Measure the clearance between the plane of the gears and the plane of the pump casing.
7. Measure the length of the pressure reducing valve spring, replace the spring if necessary.
8. Lubricate the new oil seal and install it in place.
9. Lubricate the pressure reducing valve piston with oil and install the valve elements in the pump casing.
10. Lubricate the pump gears with clean engine oil.
11. Fill pump cavities with petroleum jelly.
12. Install the oil pump cover and tighten the cover screws after lubricating them with sealant.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean and wipe the mating surfaces of the oil pump and cylinder block with acetone.
2. Install a new oil pump gasket by lubricating silicone sealant on the surface of the gasket adjacent to the pump. Install the pump to the cylinder block.
3. Insert the bolts and tighten them to the required torque.
4. Apply sealant around the perimeter of the engine reinforcement section and around the four section rear bolt holes. Install the reinforcing section and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
