Front crankshaft oil seal

There are two methods for replacing the front crankshaft oil seal. You can remove the oil pump and knock out the seal (recommended method) or use the easier method described below.

Replacement

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Lock the crankshaft and remove the pulley bolt.



3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

4. Remove the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket.



5. Remember the depth of the seal and remove it with a special tool or with a screwdriver.

6. Clean the seal groove and lubricate the new seal with engine oil.



7. Install the new seal in place.

8. Install the remaining parts, start the engine and check for leaks.
