Attention! Dismantling the stand is a potential hazard to your health. Exercise extreme caution when performing this work. Use only a high quality spring extractor and follow all instructions for handling this tool. After removing the spring, store it together with the puller in a separate safe place.
Rack disassembly
2. Remove the stand as indicated in paragraph 2 (for front suspension strut) or in paragraph 9 (for rear suspension strut). Secure the stand in a vise by placing rags or pieces of wood under the jaws of the vise. Do not overtighten the vise.
3. Install the spring extractor according to the manufacturer's instructions (puller can be purchased at the parts store) and compress the spring so that it moves away from the top plate (pic. 3.3). The fact that the spring has moved away from the upper plate can be verified by moving it.
4. Loosen the damper rod nut (pic. 3.4).
5. Remove the top post (pic. 3.5). Inspect the bearing and make sure. that it is not damaged and rotates smoothly. If the bearing is defective, replace it. Inspect the rubber seal for damage. If necessary, replace defective components.
6. Remove the top plate with the compressed spring and puller (pic. 3.6). Inspect the spring seat rubber to make sure it is in good condition. Replace defective components.
Attention! Stay away from the ends of the compressed spring. After removing the spring, store it together with the pullers in a separate safe place.
7. Disconnect the plate and rubber ring from the spring.
8. Remove the rubber boot from the stem.
9. Inspect the bottom support gasket for cracks, chips or other damage and replace if necessary.
Assembly
10. If you have installed a new lower support gasket, turn it so that the step on it is at the lowest point of the lower spring plate. Pull the shock absorber rod out to its full length and put a rubber boot on it.
11. Install the spring on the bottom plate so that the end of the spring falls into the ledge of the plate (pic. 3.11).
12. Install the top seal and spring plate. Make sure that the cutout of the cymbal is turned outward and is in line with the mounting points of the strut to the steering knuckle (pic. 3.12).
13. Install the seal and upper strut support on the damper rod.
14. Screw a nut and tighten it the demanded moment.
15. Install the rack (see paragraph 2 for front suspension strut or paragraph 9 for rear suspension strut).
