2. The windows can be lowered or raised using the main switch from the driver's seat, or using switches located outside the doors. Each pane is driven by a separate reversible electric motor. The position of the switch determines the polarity of the motor connection and. respectively, the direction of movement of the glass.
3 The purpose of the power windows is protected by a fuse and a circuit breaker. Each motor is also protected by a circuit breaker. This prevents the failure of the entire system in the event of jamming of one of the power windows.
4. The power window system will only operate when the ignition is on. On most models, an additional switch is installed next to the main switch, which is designed to block the power windows of the rear doors and, sometimes, to block the power window of the passenger's door. Always start a system check by checking these switches.
5. If the system switches are OK, but the problem persists, contact a specialized service station.
6. If the system does not work, check the fuse and circuit breaker first.
7. If only the rear window regulators are faulty or the windows operate only from the main switch, check the rear door window lock switch and make sure there is contact between its terminals. Replace the interlock switch if necessary.
8. Check wiring between fuse and switches. Eliminate the break in the wiring.
9. If the main switch does not control only one power window, try turning on this power window with the switch installed on the door.
Note. This method is not suitable for the driver's door.
10. If some power windows are controlled by one switch and not controlled by another, check the proper operation of the corresponding switches.
11. If all switches are OK, repair an open or short in the wiring between the switch and the power window motor.
12. If the power window is not controlled by any of the switches, remove the facing from the door and make sure that there is voltage on the electric motor when the power window is turned on. If the fault lies in the switches, check them according to fig. December 24, а-г.
13. If voltage is applied to the electric motor, disconnect the glass from the power window mechanism (see chapter 11). Move the glass by hand and make sure there is no binding when moving it. Also make sure the power window mechanism is working properly. If the power window is OK and the window moves without binding, replace the motor. If the mechanism sticks, lubricate it or replace faulty parts.
14. If there is no voltage to the motor, check the wiring between the switch and the motor. If necessary, use the appropriate wiring diagram. If there is a relay in the circuit, check the reliability of the grounding of the relay and the integrity of the power supply circuit of the relay.
