Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Warning. If your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft audio system, before disconnecting the battery. make sure you have the unlock code for it.
2. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation valve and all hoses from the cover.
3. Tag the high voltage wires, then disconnect them from the spark plugs.
4. Turn out bolts of fastening of an arm of a hose of a steering amplifier la (fig 4.4).
5. On release models since 1996, disconnect the crankshaft position sensor (see chapter 6).
6. Turn out bolts of fastening of a cover to a head of the block of cylinders in sequence. the reverse of the one shown in Figure 4.13.
7. Disconnect all remaining hoses and tubes from the cover and remove the cover. If the cover is dry, tap it with a mallet - do not try to wring it from the head of the block with a screwdriver.
Installation
8. Before installing the cover, clean the surface of the block head mating with the cover. Scrape off the remnants of the old gasket from it, then wipe the surface with a rag, soak-yu in acetone. If the mating surfaces are not clean enough, the joint will leak after assembly
9. Also clean the mating surface of the cover.
10. Apply a coat of RTV Sealant to one side of the gasket and install the gasket to the cover (pic. 4.10).
11. Apply sealant to the surface of the cylinder head in the places indicated in fig. 4.11.
12. Establish a cover of a head of cylinders into place and screw bolts of its fastening by hand.
13. In the sequence shown in fig. 4.13, tighten the cover bolts in two or three passes until the required torque is reached.
14. Reinstall all previously removed parts, hoses and wires in the reverse order of their removal.
15. Start the engine and check for leaks.
