General information about the repair of a six-cylinder engine

This chapter describes procedures for repairing a V-engine without removing it from the vehicle. Information on removing and installing the engine, as well as repairing heads and cylinder blocks, is given in chapter 2B.

The description of repair procedures implies that the engine is standing in the car. If the engine has been removed from the vehicle and mounted on a stand, many of the steps described here can be skipped.

The technical data given at the beginning of this chapter refer only to the procedures described in this chapter. The technical data required for the repair of heads and cylinder blocks are given in chapter 2B.
