Many major engine repairs can be performed without removing the engine from the vehicle.
Before performing work, wash the engine compartment and car body with a special oil-washing compound. This will make your job easier and reduce the chance of dirt getting inside the engine.
Depending on the work to be done, it may be convenient to remove the hood for easier access to the engine from all sides (in this case, please contact chapter 11). Cover the wings with a thick cloth to protect them from damage to the paint.
Without removing the engine, it is possible to replace most seals and gaskets, the failure of which causes leakage of liquids or gases. These include gaskets for the cylinder head, manifolds, sump, crankshaft and camshaft seals, etc.
Without removing the engine from the car, you can remove for repair almost all external devices, such as intake and exhaust manifolds, water and oil pumps, starter and generator, elements of the ignition system and fuel system.
Since the cylinder heads can be removed from the engine without removing it from its place, all systems located on them - manifolds, valves, rocker arms, camshafts and their drive can be repaired.
In exceptional cases due to lack of equipment or time, it is even possible to perform a medium engine repair with the replacement of pistons, piston rings, connecting rods and liners, although this is not recommended.
