Tire cleaning
If possible, do not clean the tires with a steam cleaner. If the nozzle of the steam jet is brought too close, the rubber layer will be destroyed in a short time, even if cold water is used. A tire cleaned in this way must be replaced for safety reasons.
Tires that have had prolonged contact with oil or grease should also be replaced. The tire bulges in these places, but then returns to its original shape and looks undamaged from the outside. However, the load capacity of the tire is greatly reduced.
Tire storage
Tires should be stored in a cool, dark and dry place. They must not come into contact with oil or grease.
Wheels should be stored lying down or suspended in a garage or basement.
Increase tire pressure before removing wheels (by about 0.3-0.5 bar).
For winter tires, use your own rims, so remounting tires on the same rims is not advisable for cost reasons.
Tire break-in
New tires have a very smooth surface. Therefore, new tires - this also applies to the spare wheel - must be run in. During break-in, the surface of the tires becomes rougher due to wear. For the first 300 km with new tires, you need to drive very carefully, especially on wet roads.
