1. Connect a voltmeter between the positive and negative poles of the battery.
2. Start the engine. When starting, the voltage should not fall below 8 V (at outside temperature +20°С).
3. Increase the number of revolutions to 2000 rpm. The voltage should be 14.1-14.7 V. This indicates that the generator and regulator are working. The alternator voltage must be higher than the battery voltage so that the battery is recharged while driving.
4. Check the stability of the adjustment. To do this, turn on the main beam and repeat the measurement at 2000 rpm. The measured voltage should not be more than 0.4 V higher than the previously measured value.
5. If the measured values are out of range, have the generator checked by a workshop.
