3. Odometer since reset (if available)
4. Odometer reset button (if available)
- For installation on «0» just press the button.
5. Turn Signal/Hazard Warning Lamp
- If the indicator lamp does not work, the direction indicator system is not working satisfactorily. The problem should be fixed as soon as possible.
- When the alarm is turned on, the direction indicators on both sides work simultaneously.
6. coolant thermometer
- This thermometer indicates the temperature of the coolant.
Type A - Pointers
If the pointer needle is out of range, the engine is overheated.
Type B - Electronic Pointers
When the engine is overheated, the indicator segments flash.
Take the following measures if the engine overheats:
- 1. Stop the car at the edge of the road.
- 2. Turn off the air conditioner.
- 3. Stop the engine if coolant or steam comes out of the radiator. Turn the ignition key to position «ON (II)», without starting the engine. In this position, the fan operates automatically. If it does not work, contact a MAZDA service center.
- 4. If no coolant is escaping, leave the engine idling and open the hood for better cooling.
- 5. If the temperature does not drop at idle, stop the engine and wait until it cools down.
- 6. Check up tightness of connections of hoses of a radiator. Stop the engine immediately if a leak is found and contact a MAZDA Dealership.
- 7. Check the coolant level if coolant comes out. If required, add the prescribed coolant.
Attention! Do not remove the radiator cap if the engine and radiator are hot. Boiling coolant and steam may escape from the opening under pressure, causing burns.
7. Fuel gauge
- The fuel gauge shows how much fuel is in the tank.
- Fuel tank volume
- Except vehicles with all-wheel drive: 45 hp
- Only vehicles with all-wheel drive: 53 hp
Type A
Type B - Electronic indicators
Note. When the lower segment of the fuel gauge starts flashing, the fuel level in the tank is approximately 5 liters.
Note. If the ignition switch is not switched on when refueling, this lasts until the indicator is set to the current fuel level. Therefore, when refueling, turn off the switch.
8. Pilot lamps
Examination
If you turn the ignition key to position «ON (II)», without starting the engine and applying the handbrake, you can check the indicator lamps. If the indicators do not light up, they should be checked by a MAZDA Service Center.
optical/acoustic
Low Fuel Alarm (if available). This optical/acoustic signal comes on when the amount of fuel in the tank is 8 liters.
Oil pressure warning lamp
This warning light indicates that the engine oil pressure is too low. It lights up when the ignition is on (to test lamp operation), if the oil pressure is normal, the lamp goes out after starting the engine.
If the warning light comes on while driving:
- 1. Stop the car at the edge of the road.
- 2. Check the engine oil level. Add oil if required.
- 3. Or have the vehicle towed to the nearest MAZDA service center to top up the oil.
Attention! Failure to follow the above instructions may result in severe engine damage.
Oil pressure warning light/horn - oil filter (for diesel engine)
This indicator lamp is on when the ignition is turned on (to check the functionality) and goes out after starting the engine.
If this oil pressure warning light comes on while driving:
- 1. Stop your vehicle carefully at the edge of the road.
- 2. Check the engine oil level. If the level is too low, add the missing oil, or
- 3. Tow the vehicle to a MAZDA dealership and add oil there.
The oil filter warning light/horn system also serves to protect your vehicle's oil filtration system. If the warning light comes on/beep sounds at normal engine temperature and normal engine oil level, this indicates that the oil filter may be clogged. In this case, take the vehicle to the nearest gas station or MAZDA dealer to have the oil filter changed.
Attention! Failure to follow the above rules may result in severe engine damage.
Charging current control lamp
This lamp indicates a malfunction of the generator or electrical system.
If the lamp comes on while driving, proceed as follows:
- 1. Stop your vehicle carefully at the edge of the road.
- 2. With the engine off, check for loose or damaged V-belt.
- 3. If the V-belt is OK, the fault is in the charging system. It is recommended that you find and fix the problem as soon as possible.
Warning lamp of the alarm system (if available)
This lamp is on when the alarm is on.
Stop lamp failure warning lamp (if available)
The lamp lights up when the brake light fails or if there is a malfunction in the circuit. The fault must be rectified as soon as possible.
Brake warning lamp
Parking Brake Warning Light - If the handbrake is applied, the warning light will come on when the ignition is turned on. When driving off, check that the handbrake is fully released and the lamp goes out.
Brake fluid level warning lamp (if available)
If this lamp comes on after the handbrake is released and the ignition is on, the brake fluid level in the reservoir may be too low.
If the lamp lights up, proceed as follows:
- 1. Check if the handbrake is fully released. If the brake is released and the lamp stays on.
- 2. Stop your vehicle carefully at the edge of the road.
- 3. With the engine off, immediately check the brake fluid level and add fluid if necessary. All other elements of the brake system must be checked for fluid leakage.
- 4. If leaks are found, the warning light stays on, or the brakes are not working properly, stop driving. The car should be towed to a service center to check the brake system and carry out the necessary work.
Attention! Driving the vehicle in this condition is dangerous. The brakes must be repaired immediately.
Control lamp of heating of back glass (if available)
The control lamp burns at the included heating of back glass.
Washer liquid level warning lamp (if available)
This warning lamp comes on if the fluid level in the windshield washer system is too low. Check fluid level and add washer fluid.
Air damper control lamp
The control lamp burns at the extended button of a drive of the air damper.
high beam warning lamp
The control lamp burns at the included main beam.
Control lamp of switching to the next gear (if available)
If this warning lamp comes on, the fuel consumption in the selected gear is too high. In this case, shift the gearbox to the next gear to achieve economical fuel consumption.
Control lamp of a pedal of gas (if available)
This warning lamp comes on when the accelerator pedal is depressed too hard. In this case, let off the throttle until the lamp goes out to provide better fuel consumption.
Rear fog lamp warning lamp (if available)
This warning lamp illuminates when the rear fog lamps are on.
Turbo indicator (for vehicles with turbocharger)
The indicator lights up when the turbocharger is in operation.
The indicator flashes and a warning tone sounds when the discharge pressure increases too much. The vehicle must not continue to move with the indicator flashing as the engine may be damaged. In this case, decrease the RPM until the turbocharger indicator light stops flashing.
Coolant level warning lamp (for diesel engine, if available)
Attention! Since the engine consists of aluminum parts, an ethylene glycol-based coolant must be used.
When the ignition is on, this warning lamp lights up to check that the lamp is working; it should go out when the engine starts. If the warning lamp comes on while driving (or a beep will sound):
- 1. Stop the car at the edge of the road.
- 2. Turn off the engine and let it cool down. If there is no coolant leak, check the coolant level in the expansion tank and in the radiator. Add coolant if required.
- 3. If the control lamp does not go out, tow the car to a MAZDA service center.
Warning lamp/Water deflector warning light (for diesel engine, if available)
Diesel vehicles
- Stop your car at the edge of the road.
- Stop the engine and check for loose or broken alternator V-belt.
- If the alternator V-belt is faulty, under no circumstances should you continue driving, as the engine overheats and the braking effect is reduced. Have the vehicle towed to the nearest workshop.
9. Tachometer
The tachometer shows the engine speed in thousands of revolutions per minute (rpm).
Attention! Do not allow the engine to run in the red area of the tachometer. This can cause severe engine damage.
Type A
Type B
10. Switching the indication of the fuel gauge (only on electronic indicators, if available)
If the button is pressed, the lower display area will be shown with limits from 5 to 15 liters. After about 5 seconds, the indicator will return to its previous, normal state.
