The following spare parts must be purchased:
- Injection engines: 2 copper spacers.
- Fuel filter for the respective engine. When buying, report the year of manufacture and model of the car.
Diesel engine
Draining sediment/replacing fuel filter
A suitable container is needed to collect the sludge.
Attention! Escaping diesel fuel must be removed from the rubber parts immediately (coolant hoses), otherwise rubber parts will be destroyed over time.
Sludge drain
1. Place a suitable bath under the drain fitting.
2. Loosen the drain bolt approximately one turn by hand.
3. Pump with a hand pump (about 7 times) until unblended diesel fuel comes out.
4. Tighten the sediment removal bolt by hand.
5. After draining the sludge, air must be removed from the fuel system.
Filter replacement
1. If present, disconnect the sediment level sensor plug.
2. Loosen tensioning bolt -arrow- for fuel filter clamp.
3. Unscrew the fuel filter from the holder with a special key and remove it.
4. If present, unscrew the sediment level sensor with water pump tongs, insert and screw it into the new filter.
5. Coat the new gasket with diesel fuel and install it.
6. Fill the filter to the brim with diesel fuel and screw on by hand.
7. Remove air from the fuel system.
8. After a test drive, check the fuel system for leaks.
Bleeding air from the fuel system
1. Loosen the bleed screw.
2. Pump with a hand pump until there are no air bubbles in the fuel protruding from the bleeder screw.
3. Tighten the bolt while pressing the hand pump.
4. Pump with a hand pump (about 15 times) until resistance is felt when pressed.
5. Turn on the preheat and then start the engine.
6. If the engine does not start, pumping should be repeated.
7. Visually check the tightness of the fuel system, especially the fuel filter connections.
Carburetor engines
The fuel line is located in the engine compartment in the fuel supply line. To disconnect the supply and return pipelines, 2 clamps are needed. You can use two clamps.
Removing
Attention! Do not work near open flames. Flammable!
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Attention! This erases the data from the engine fault memory or the radio's security code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in Section Removing and installing the battery.
2. Clamp the supply and return pipelines before and after the fuel filter with clamps.
3. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the lines from the filter.
4. Remove the fuel filter.
Installation
1. Put the pipelines on the new filter and secure with clamps. The arrow on the filter indicates the direction of fuel flow.
2. Remove clips.
3. Connect the mass cable to the battery.
4. If available, set the clock and set the radio's security code.
5. After a test drive, check the tightness of the connections.
Injection engines
When removing the fuel filter, a large amount of fuel will flow out, a suitable container is needed to collect it. To block the fuel lines, you will need two rubber plugs.
Removing
Attention! Do not work near open flames. Flammable!
1. Reduce fuel pressure.
2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Attention! This erases the data from the engine fault memory or the radio's security code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in Section Removing and installing the battery.
3. Place a suitable vessel under the fuel filter.
4. Slowly remove the lower fuel line after loosening the clamp. Close the pipeline with a rubber stopper.
5. Allow the fuel to drain into a container.
6. Unscrew the upper connecting bolt and remove the fuel line with 2 gaskets.
7. To release the fuel filter from fastening.
Installation
1. Insert the fuel filter into the holder.
2. Install the upper connecting bolt with 2 gaskets and tighten.
3. Remove the plug from the lower pipeline, connect and secure it with a clamp.
4. Connect the mass cable to the battery.
5. If available, set the clock and set the radio's security code.
6. Connect the fuel pump plug.
7. Install the rear seat, see Section Backseat.
8. After a test drive, check the tightness of the connections.
