A characteristic feature of Mazda cars is the body structure, which uses a trough-shaped floor element along with front and rear longitudinal spars. They serve as a support for body parts, front and rear suspension, etc. Elements that are especially vulnerable in an accident can be unscrewed and repaired or replaced. These include moldings, bumpers, hood, trunk lid and all glass.
Body includes crumple zones (collision front and rear) with a safety cell in the center of the car.
The front bumper absorbs the energy of a frontal impact.
Amplifiers built into the body frame protect against side impacts.
