Mazda strongly recommends the use of special child restraints when transporting small children in the vehicle to ensure the passive safety of children.
We recommend the use of genuine Mazda brand child restraints or similar products that comply with European Regulation ECE R44. If you would like to purchase a Mazda Genuine Child Restraint, please contact your authorized Mazda dealer.
Check the regulations in force in your country regarding the safety of young children when transporting them in a car.
Regardless of the brand of child restraint used, it must be appropriate for the age and height of the child. When installing and operating a child restraint, comply with current regulations and follow all manufacturer's instructions that are included with the specific product. If the child has outgrown the child restraint, the child must be placed in the rear seat and must be fastened with a seat belt.
Child restraints are placed in the rear seat as statistics confirm that this is the safest place for children under the age of 12 to sit.
This is especially true for vehicles equipped with airbags. It is strictly FORBIDDEN to install rear-facing child restraints in the front passenger seat unless the front passenger airbags have been disabled. The front passenger seat is also the least suitable place to install other types of child restraints. Some vehicle versions have a switch to turn off the front passenger airbags.
