Perform a color contrast check of the cylinder head surface. Using a penetrating dye, check for cracks in the combustion chambers, inlet and outlet ports, and at the gas interface (pic. 2.136).
If there are cracks, replace the cylinder head or weld it (followed by polishing).
Check valve seat depth, radial and axial clearance of camshaft bearings (see below).

Measure the cylinder head in six directions for distortion (pic. 2.137).
If the deformation exceeds the maximum, replace the cylinder head.
- Maximum Warping: 0.10mm.
- Maximum grinding: 0.15 mm.
