Pic. 1.54. Light signaling devices and indicators of a combination of devices of the car Mazda 6
Various alarms and indicators are built into the instrument cluster, which perform the functions of alerting and / or warning the driver about the health and condition of one of the working units or vehicle systems (pic. 1.54).
Light and sound signaling device for a malfunction of the airbag system and seat belt pretensioners.
If the airbag system and the front seat belt pretensioners are in good condition, the malfunction indicator lamp should come on when the ignition switch is turned to the «ON» (ignition on) or when the starter is turned on. Then, after some time, the signaling device should go out.
If the warning light stays on or does not come on at all when the ignition switch is turned to the «ON» (ignition on), this indicates a malfunction in the airbag or seat belt pretensioner system. If the warning light indicates a malfunction, the airbags or seat belt pretensioners may not deploy in the event of an accident.
Warning! It is strictly forbidden to tamper with the design of the airbag system or seat belt pretensioners. All maintenance and repair of these systems must be carried out at a service station of an authorized Mazda dealer. Do-it-yourself repairs, maintenance or tampering with the system design is dangerous. The airbag or seat belt pretensioner may inadvertently deploy or fail. This can result in severe personal injury.
Control lamp of an annunciator of malfunction of brake system / the Indicator of inclusion of a parking brake.
The indicator comes on when the parking brake is applied and the ignition switch is in the «START» (starter) or «ON» (ignition on). The indicator goes out when the parking brake is fully released.
Brake fluid level warning device.
If the warning light stays on after the parking brake is fully released, a brake system problem may be the cause.
Observing safety precautions, immediately pull over to the side of the road or to the edge of the roadway and stop.
You may notice that the brake pedal force or brake pedal travel has increased (the pedal is lowered to the floor). In both cases, the stopping distance of the car will increase.
Check the brake fluid level. Add brake fluid if necessary and top up the level. After topping up the brake fluid, check to see if the warning light is still on.
If the indicator continues to burn or there are signs of a malfunction of the brake system, further movement of the car is prohibited.
Note. The need to top up the brake fluid can sometimes be the result of a brake fluid leak. Therefore, immediately contact an Authorized Mazda Dealer to have the brake system checked, even if the warning light is no longer illuminated.
Attention! It is dangerous to operate the vehicle if the brake warning light is on. This indicates that your vehicle's brake system may not work or fail at any time. If the indicator continues to burn, then after checking the release of the parking brake, it is necessary to immediately check the condition of the brake system.
Battery discharge indicator.
The indicator lights up when the ignition switch is turned to the position «ON» (ignition on) and goes out after starting the engine.
If the indicator lights up while the vehicle is moving, this indicates a malfunction of the electric generator or power supply system. Observing safety precautions, immediately pull over to the side of the road or to the edge of the roadway and stop.
Attention! If the battery discharge indicator is on, then further movement of the car is prohibited, since in this case the engine may suddenly stall.
Engine oil pressure drop indicator.
This indicator warns the driver of low pressure in the engine lubrication system.
The indicator lights up when the ignition switch is turned to the position «ON» (ignition on) and goes out after starting the engine.
Attention! Do not operate the engine when the oil pressure drop warning light is on. This can lead to engine failure.
It is necessary to check the serviceability of the engine oil pressure drop indicator each time the ignition is turned on. If the indicator fails, you will not receive a timely signal of a drop in oil pressure and the engine may be damaged. If the warning light does not come on when the ignition is turned on, do not start the engine. Contact an Authorized Mazda Dealer to have the indicator checked and repaired.
If the warning light comes on while the vehicle is moving, follow these steps.
1. Taking precautionary measures, immediately turn onto the side of the road or to the edge of the carriageway and stop on a level area.
2. Stop the engine and wait 5 minutes for the engine oil to drain into the engine sump.
3. Check the engine oil level. If the oil level is low, add oil and bring the level up to the correct level.
Signaling device of malfunction of systems of the engine.
The indicator lights up when the ignition switch is turned to the position «ON» (ignition on) and goes out after starting the engine.
If the indicator lights up while the vehicle is moving, this may indicate a malfunction of the engine systems. It is important to notice and fix (remember), when and under what driving conditions the warning light came on, in order to then inform the specialists of the service station of an authorized Mazda dealer about this.
The engine system warning lamp may come on in the following cases:
- very low fuel level in the tank or the tank is almost empty;
- the engine electrical system is faulty;
- the system of neutralization of the fulfilled gases is faulty.
ABS anti-lock braking system malfunction indicator.
The warning lamp comes on for a few seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the «ON» (ignition on).
If the ABS warning light comes on while the vehicle is moving, this indicates that the ABS control unit has detected a malfunction of the ABS system. In this case, the brake system of your car is fully functional and will function as if the car did not have ABS. If the ABS warning light comes on, you should immediately, as soon as possible, contact a service station of an authorized Mazda dealer.
If the vehicle's battery is discharged and the engine is started from another vehicle's battery, the engine's uneven rotation may cause the ABS warning light to come on. This is due to low battery voltage and does not indicate a malfunction of the ABS. Charge the battery.
Malfunction signaling of the electronic brake force regulator.
If the control unit of the electronic brake force regulator detects a violation of the normal functioning of one of the elements of the system, then the brake system and ABS warning lamps may light up at the same time. The most likely reason for both warning lights to come on is a malfunction of the electronic brake force regulator.
It is dangerous to drive if the brake system and ABS warning lights are on at the same time. In this case, during emergency braking of the car, the rear wheels can lock up prematurely and much earlier than if the brake force regulator is in good condition.
Light and sound alarms for an unfastened seat belt.
The seat belt warning light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the «ON» (ignition on) and the driver's seat belt is not fastened.
