Checking the ignition timing

Note. In normal cases, the ignition timing is not adjustable. To check the setting of the ignition timing, the presence of a specialist and a WDS device or its equivalent is required.

Switch off electrical consumers and warm up the engine.

Start the engine.

Maintain the engine speed at approximately 3000 min^-1 until the cooling fans begin to operate.

Release the throttle control pedal.

Wait for the cooling fans to turn off.

Check that the ignition timing is correct (WDS: PID SPARKADV) normal using WDS or equivalent.

The ignition timing is approximately 10°BTDC.

Make sure that the ignition timing advances at the same time as the engine speed.
