This arrangement allows for shorter exhaust pipes and improved exhaust efficiency. In addition, due to the reduced distance to the catalytic converter, the temperature of the exhaust gases drops slightly, so the catalyst works more efficiently. Exhaust gas cooling is also prevented by the use of double-layer exhaust manifold pipes (pic. 2.64).
