Oil filter — general information (Mazda6 GG (Atenza) 2002-2008: Power unit: Lubrication system)

The oil filter is attached to the right side of the oil level sensor (from the oil pan) on the cylinder block. The filter housing is made of plastic. The oil pressure sensor is mounted on the oil filter adapter. The mesh adapter with a polymer mesh in the middle is made from an easily recyclable material. The drain hole at the bottom of the filter serves to replace the oil filter. The water cooled oil cooler is used to reduce the rate of engine oil degradation. In addition, a special oil filter adapter was made for the oil cooler, (engine models LF and L3).
