Contact designation
The designations of the contacts on the motor are standard. Bold numbers correspond to standard designations, and numbers in parentheses correspond to Ford designations.
- Contact 31 (1) - connection with «weight».
- Contact 53 (4) - voltage is applied for the first speed of the wiper.
- Contact 53a (2) - a positive voltage is applied to switch off the engine in the rest position: the motor receives voltage through a sliding contact until the wiper blades reach the home position after the driver turns off the wiper.
- Contact 53 (b) (5) - supplies voltage for the second wiper speed (additional winding) .
- Via contact 53 (e) - the wiper motor is braked on reverse after being switched off so that the wiper does not move out of its home position.
Wiper motor check
First you need to find out where the fault is: in the engine or in the voltage supply circuit. To do this, do the following:
- Disconnect plug from wiper motor.
- Using two auxiliary wires, connect the battery contacts to the engine as follows:
- connect one wire from the positive terminal of the battery to terminals 53 (4) or 53b (5);
- connect the second wire from the negative battery terminal to terminal 31 (1) on the engine.
- The wiper motor should now run at speed 1 or speed 2 depending on which terminal is connected. If this is not the case, then the corresponding motor winding is not working.
