Attention: The wires from the battery must be disconnected only when the ignition is off, because. otherwise the injection system control unit will be damaged.
Attention: Disconnecting the battery in the vehicle will erase data from the following electronic memory units:
In the injection system control unit, the so-called «trained» parameter values for engine operation. These are, for example, idle speed control parameters specific to a particular engine. After reconnecting the wires to the battery, there will be shortcomings in the engine for some time (jerky, rough acceleration or rough idle).
From the memory block of the diagnostic unit, all fault codes for the fuel injection and ignition systems are erased.
The anti-theft lock codes and settings are erased in the radio. The anti-theft coding is usually only available with standard radio receivers. If the code is unknown, then the normal operation of the radio receiver can only be restored in a specialized workshop. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery, be sure that there are anti-theft codes that must be entered to restore normal operation of the radio.
Removing
Open the hood.
Attention: Before disconnecting the wires from the battery, check that all current consumers in the car are turned off.
Switch off the ignition.
Disconnect the wires from the battery, first the negative wire (1), and then positive (2). If there is, flip up the cover over the positive battery terminal.
Loosen the fixing nuts (3) and remove the mounting bracket.
Installation
Before installation, clean the contacts of the battery and wires suitable for the battery with a special brass brush.
Install the battery, install the mounting bracket and secure it with nuts.
Attention: Before connecting the wires to the battery, check that all current consumers in the car are disconnected and that the ignition is turned off. Otherwise, sparks may occur when connecting wires or electronic devices may be damaged. Pay attention to the quality of the connection with "Weight - and the purity of the contacts. High contact resistances lead to overloading of electronic control units, especially at start-up, and, in extreme cases, the units can even fail.
Connect the wires to the battery, first positive, then negative, observing the polarity of the connection.
Caution: If the battery is connected incorrectly, the alternator and other electrical components can be seriously damaged.
Lubricate battery contacts with special anti-corrosion grease or petroleum jelly.
Set the clock.
If necessary, enter the security codes of the radio receiver and set up the receiver again.
