- Inspection pit or hydraulic jack and stands.
- Special tool for unscrewing the oil filter (clamp or strap wrench).
- Cap head for unscrewing the oil drain bolt.
- Capacity for draining oil with a volume of at least 6 liters.
Required details:
- Aluminum or copper spacer for the drain bolt.
- Oil filter.
- 4 to 4.5 liters of engine oil (depending on engine) the required variety.
Required amount of oil to change (with filter):
- engine 1.3 l - 3.25 l
- engine 1.25 / 1.4 l - 4.0 l
- engine 2.0 l ONS - 4.5 l
Oil can also be sucked out of the oil pan using a special probe through the dipstick tube.
Attention! It is possible to drain used oil only in specially designated places, but in no case should it be drained into a domestic sewer.
Draining engine oil
Note: The oil can be sucked off with a special probe.
Warm up the engine to operating temperature, which can be monitored on the coolant temperature gauge.
Raise and support the vehicle in a horizontal position.
Place a drain container under the drain bolt.
Loosen the drain bolt and allow the oil to drain completely.
Attention: If the oil contains a large amount of metal chips and sawdust, this indicates damage to the main and connecting rod bearings. To avoid damage in the future, after repairing the engine, the oil channels must be thoroughly cleaned.
Oil filter replacement
Unscrew the oil filter. It is located at the rear of the engine above the oil pan. For unscrewing, there are special tools or tape wrenches. In extreme cases, you can pierce the filter with a sharp screwdriver and unscrew it. In this case, oil will flow out - substitute a vessel.
Wipe the oil filter seating surface on the cylinder block and remove any remaining oil filter gasket.
Lightly coat the gasket surface of the new oil filter with engine oil. See instructions on the filter housing.
Screw on the new filter by hand. When the filter gasket is in contact with the cylinder block, unscrew the filter an additional half turn.
Filling engine oil
Tighten the drain bolt with a new gasket (seal) and tighten it tightly, but without overtightening. Tightening torque - 25 Nm.
Pour the required amount of fresh oil through the filler neck on the valve cover. Install cover.
Start the engine and let it run at high speed (about 2500 rpm), until the oil pressure warning light goes out (about 5 seconds). Stop the engine.
After 5 minutes, check the oil level on the dipstick.
After a test drive, check the tightness of the drain bolt and oil filter and, if necessary, tighten them carefully.
Turn off the warm engine and after 2-3 minutes check the oil level again, top up if necessary.
To maintain engine performance and better control when changing oil, it is best to use oil of the same type and brand. In order not to be mistaken, you can stick a plate with the type and viscosity of the oil on the valve cover.
Random mixing of different types of oil is not allowed. You can add oil of the same grade and brand, but of a different viscosity, which corresponds to this time of year.
