Removal and installation of the vacuum pump

The diesel vacuum pump is located on the cylinder head and is driven by a pusher from the camshaft. The pump creates the necessary vacuum for the brake booster to work, since a diesel engine, unlike a gasoline engine, does not create sufficient vacuum in the intake pipe.

Removing

Disconnect oil return hose and vacuum hose (1), going to the brake booster, from the vacuum pump, before loosening the clamp and sliding it away from the pipe.

Loosen two screws (2) and remove the vacuum pump with sealing ring.

Installation

Insert the sealing ring, having previously checked it for damage and, if necessary, replacing the ring.

Fit the vacuum pump and tighten the two bolts evenly to 25 Nm.

Install the oil return hose and vacuum hose.
