Since the right engine support needs to be released, a hoist or hydraulic jack is needed to hang the engine.
When removing, pay attention to the following:
- Install the toothed belt only on a cold engine. The engine must not be running for at least 4 hours. Adjusting the belt tension when the engine is hot will give too low a tension and this will shorten the life of the belt.
- To remove and install both toothed belts, three special adjusting rods are required, which you can make yourself.
- Both toothed belts must be replaced as part of maintenance every 60,000 km.
- Both toothed belts must always be replaced after removal. Not a new belt should not be tightened. This will overload the belt and bearings.
- If oil or coolant gets on the toothed belt, the belt must be replaced. The operation of a damaged toothed belt can lead to serious malfunctions.
- With the camshaft drive toothed belt removed, the engine must not be turned over, otherwise the pistons may hit the valves.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery with the ignition off.
Attention: This will erase data from the electronic memory blocks, for example, radio codes (see ch. «electrical equipment»).
Remove poly V-belt.
Attach a hoist chain to the right side of the engine or place a wooden jack under the engine.
Raise the engine so that the right engine mount is unloaded.
Loosen the screws and remove the right engine mount.
Remove right engine mount.
Unhook the clips or unscrew the bolts and remove the toothed belt covers.
