Enabling, removing and installing the fuel pump safety switch

All models with petrol injection have a safety switch that shuts off the fuel pump in the event of an accident or overload. The switch for Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121 models is located in the driver's footwell, for Ford KA models it is in the front passenger's footwell on the side under the trim. Whether the current supply is interrupted or not is determined by the extended power button.

Inclusion

Look through the viewing window in the side trim of the footwell. When the power button is pressed (1) the power supply circuit is not interrupted. If the button, on the contrary, popped up, then the fuel pump switch is off.

Precautions: in case of leaks after an accident or if there is a smell of gasoline, the switch must not be closed, because. this greatly increases the risk of fire.

Switch off the ignition.

Check fuel system for leaks. If there is no escaping gasoline and no smell of gasoline, then press the safety switch button. '

Turn on the ignition - at the same time, the fuel pump will work audibly and create fuel pressure.

Switch off the ignition and check the fuel system again for leaks and repair if necessary.

Removing

Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121: Remove side trim in driver's footwell.

Ford KA: fold down the floor mat from the side wall of the front passenger's footwell.

Press the insulation from the switch and unscrew the two bolts of the switch.

Remove the multi-pin plug from the safety switch.

Installation

Insert the plug and secure the switch with two screws. If necessary, turn on the switch by pressing the button.

Install cladding or put on carpet (Ford KA).
