Examination
Check the oil level and top up if necessary.
Warm up the engine until the engine oil temperature reaches 80°C.
Remove the oil pressure warning light switch. It is located on the cylinder block next to the oil filter, and on a diesel engine it is on the back of the engine next to the fuel filter. The figure shows a 1.3L engine.
Instead of the oil pressure warning light switch, screw a pressure gauge into the cylinder block.
Start the engine and let it go. run at idle. Check oil pressure again.
Engine | Oil temperature | Minimum oil pressure at:
idling | 2000 rpm | |||
1.3 l | 80°C | 0.6 bar | 1.5 bar
1.2/1.4 l | 80°C | 1.4 bar | 3.0 bar
1.8 L diesel | 80°C | 0.75 bar | 1.5 bar |
Lubricate 2-3 threads of the control lamp switch with sealant, screw in the switch and tighten it to a torque of 15 Nm (engines 1.3 l and diesel - 20 Nm).
If the pressure is too low, see section «Troubleshooting».
