Dismantling and assembly of the main brake cylinder (Mazda BT-50 (1) 2006-2011: Chassis: Brake system)

Remove parts in the order they are numbered on the assembly drawing "Master brake cylinder".

Master brake cylinder (Ford Ranger).
1 - cover and filter,
2 - pin,
3 - brake fluid reservoir,
4 - connecting sleeves,
5 - low brake fluid level sensor,
6 - guide and seal,
7 - retaining ring,
8 - spacer,
9 - piston guide,
10 - ring seal,
11 - sealing cuff,
12 - piston stroke limiter No. 1,
13 - piston No. 1,
14 - lock screw (models without ABS),
15 - lock screw (models with ABS),
16 - seal,
17 - piston No. 2,
18 - the body of the main brake cylinder.

Note: Apply brake fluid to parts marked with when assembling.

S - spacer,

Note: Apply brake fluid to parts marked with when assembling.

Caution: When performing the disassembly and reassembly procedures, be careful not to damage the inside of the housing and the pistons.

Note: Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Note on installing the lock screw

1. (Models with ABS) Install the #2 piston into the body with the groove on the piston facing the set screw. Use a screwdriver or a rod to push and hold the piston.

2. (Models without ABS) Install pistons #1 and #2 into the body and press the piston until it stops.

3. Place the seal on the screw and tighten the screw.

4. Press and release piston No. 1, make sure the pistons are held in the brake master cylinder housing.

Checking the Low Brake Fluid Sensor

1. Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.

2. Disconnect the sensor connector.

3. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between the terminals of the connector when the brake fluid level in the reservoir is above the mark "MIN".

4. Using an ohmmeter, make sure there is continuity between the connector terminals when the brake fluid level in the reservoir is below the mark "MIN". If necessary, replace the low brake fluid level sensor.
