Attention: careless handling of the airbag can cause it to deploy spontaneously, which can cause serious injury. Before removing the airbag, read the section "Precautions for operation and maintenance" chapters ''Passive safety system".
Remove parts in the order they are numbered on the assembly drawing "Removal and installation of a steering column and a steering wheel".
Note: Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
Withdrawal Notes
1. Steering wheel.
A) Set the front wheels to the straight ahead position.
b) Remove the steering wheel using a puller.
Note: Do not remove the steering wheel by hitting the steering shaft. This could damage the steering column.
2. Ignition lock bolts,
A) Using a chisel and a hammer, make slots for a screwdriver on the heads of the ignition lock bolts.
b) Using a screwdriver, remove the ignition switch mounting bolts.
V) Remove the ignition switch.
3. Ignition lock cylinder.
A) Set the ignition key to position "ACC".
b) Press the pin and, keeping it pressed, remove the ignition lock cylinder.
Installation Notes
1. Bolts of fastening of the lock of ignition.
A) Install the ignition switch parts to the steering shaft.
b) Make sure the ignition switch is working properly.
V) Install new ignition lock bolts.
G) Tighten the ignition lock bolts until the bolt heads break off.
2. Steering shaft.
V) (Models with steering column adjustment mechanism) Lock the steering column adjustment lever.
b) tighten the nut "A".
- Tightening torque - 16-23 Nm
V) tighten bolt "IN".
- Tightening torque - 16-23 Nm
3. Steering wheel.
Before installing the steering wheel, make sure the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
