Precautions when working with the fuel system

Attention:

• Before carrying out any repair work on the fuel system, be sure to disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
• Do not smoke or use open flames when working on the fuel system.
• Work in a well ventilated area.
• Use safety goggles.
• To relieve pressure in the fuel tank, remove and then install the fuel filler cap.
• The fuel pipes and hoses are under high pressure even after the engine has stopped. To avoid damage or injury, follow the fuel system pressure relief procedures before disconnecting fuel lines and hoses.
• Avoid spilling fuel. When working, cover all disconnected pipes with rags or lower them into a container where fuel will be drained.
